Teaching her to go back to Sleep

Hi everyone

I have a 22 month old who has been waking for a couple hours about 3 nights in a row each week. It started when her father went overseas to work when she was 18 months old. I tried everything including having her awake for short periods, long periods, milk and food etc. But nothing, not even a holiday in London, broke the habit.

Her father is coming back from the work secondment and I have decided that if she doesn't go back to sleeping through the night when he is settled at home again I will have try to teach her to go back to sleep, including letting her cry if that is the only way.

Do you have any tips for teaching an older baby/small toddler (not breastfeeding any more) to go back to sleep?

Cheers

Amy
