Hi everyone, my name is Karen. I have a 26 month old daughter Cassidy who was born 7 weeks early due to HeLLp syndrome. This is a severe form of pre-eclampsia. Thankfully although she was small (31/2 pound) she had no major help problems and after 6 weeks in hospital came home, and has been happy and healthy ever since.

We are talking about having another child, but my OB tells us that it is extremely likely that I will get HeLLp syndrome again and have a premature baby. My husband is scared that it is too big of a risk (I nearly died during the emergence c-section last time). I desperately want another baby and as I'm 38 time is a critical issue.

I was wondering if anyone has a similar experience, maybe a second pregnancy after having a premature baby?

I would love to hear of anyone experiences.

Hi Karen, it is over a year ago you posted your thread, but just incase you or others need support, I too had severe pre-eclampsia and HELLP which I and my son (32 weeks) were very lucky to have survived. I would recommend getting in contact with AAPEC  http://www.aapec.org.au. It will put you in touch with others mothers in simular situations (at request), and provide educational support through membership and/ or website for you and your family. http://www.aapec.org.au/Pre-Eclampsia/index.php.
