HUGGIES DENIM NAPPIES TO SUPPORT JEANS

In support of the national Jeans for Genes campaign, an event that raises money for vital research into the prevention of genetic diseases, Huggies has produced their Denim Designs range.

The limited run denim-look nappies are available in four designs for boys and girls and are also available as Baby Wipes. Both are the same price as regular Huggies Nappies, (Toddler 36 and Walker 32), $20.95 and Baby Wipes, $6.35. AUSTRALIA'S UNITY WALK FOR PARKINSON'S
August & September


The Parkinson’s Unity Walk is back for another year to raise money that goes towards vital research into Parkinson’s disease.
Over 80,000 people in Australia are living with Parkinson’s disease and almost 25 new cases are diagnosed each day. It is the second most common neurological disorder in Australia so get your family together to raise funds for this important cause.

Early bird registration for the 4.5km walk is $20 for adults and $12 for children aged five to 15 years. Group prices are also available. Dental Health Week
August 2 to 8


2 to 8 August is National Dental Health Week in Australia. It has been identified by the Australian Dental Association (ADA) that tooth erosion is the silent epidemic dental condition of the 21st century. Tooth erosion can affect anyone, with diet being a major contributing factor, in particular the consumption of acidic drinks. BACKPACKS 4 AUSSIE KIDS

Backpacks 4 Aussie Kids is a non-profit project that fills backpacks and nappy bags with essential and personal items for kids going into foster and kinship care. They supply foster care agencies with appropriate bags to give to kids who are being placed into care that have little or no belongings.

YOU CAN FUNDRAISING APPEAL

The Sony Foundation together with CanTeen has launched a national fundraising campaign to raise $15 million to build youth cancer centres in Australia. The You Can appeal addresses the need for specialised youth cancer treatment centres for persons aged 15 to 25.
You can get involved by recycling old mobile phones. It estimated that there are anywhere from 15 to 20 million unwanted phones in Australian homes. The Sony Foundation has partnered with Folmah, an Irish recycling company, to swap old mobile phones for cash. SCHOOL HOLIDAY EVENTS AT THE STATE LIBRARY OF NSW
12 - 16 July


To celebrate the bicentenary of Governor Macquarie’s governorship, the State Library of NSW is hosting various school holiday activities from 12 to 16 July. These include adventurous tours of the new exhibition The Governor: Lachlan Macquarie, workshops that let children create their own cities with recycled materials, mystery tours of the historic Mitchell Library as well as story-time activites and self-portraiture workshops. SYDNEY CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL

Back at the CarriageWorks for another year, the Sydney Children’s Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever. The festival includes:
• The Grimstone, a gothic fairytale performed with puppets and sign language.
• Circus Monoxide, a contemporary circus that includes circus-skills workshops.
• The Sydney Children’s Festival Choir will perform.
• A Kid’s Garden Project will be introduced for little ones to get their hands dirty.

WINTERLAND FESTIVAL
July 5 to 31


Sydney’s first Winterland festival is on this July at the CarriageWorks. The old rail yards will be transformed into a huge indoor ice rink. There will also be live music, an art and crafts market, food stalls, dancing and karaoke activities for everyone.

Admission is free but entry into the ice-rink will set you back $12.50 for 45 minutes during the day and $16.50 after 6pm. On Saturdays the Winter Markets are held with themed music nights from Thursday to Saturday from 6pm. For more information head to carriageworks.com.au.

THE ALPINE WINTER FESTIVAL
24 June - 10 August


After its success in 2009, The Alpine Winter Festival is back in some of Sydney and Melbourne’s most iconic locations. The event includes an open-air ice-skating rink, international food and beverages, a stylish bar and a petting zoo for the kids.
Skating costs $17 for adults and $10 for kids but entry to the festival is free. The event will be held in Sydney from 24 June to 4 July at Phillip Park in the city and 16 to 25 July at Bondi Beach in Sydney. It moves to Federation Square in Melbourne from 3 August to 10 August. A little slice of country life for city folk, Collingwood Children’s Farm provides a beautiful experience for children and adults alike. The National Art Gallery of Victoria has recently opened their Kids Corner space where children and their families can enjoy creative installations and activities designed just for them. Going Places Sitting Down is the current theme, with videos and objects from artists around the world being displayed.

The Amazing Bodies Exhibition is set to open in Melbourne on 4 June. The showcase takes visitors on an exploration of human and animal bodies, displaying plastinated internal organs, muscles and body parts that are true to life. The exhibit offers a unique opportunity to understand our own anatomy and that of animals. Teddy Love Club Variety Show

The Teddy Love Club (TLC) is a pregnancy and infant loss support organisation. The program helps support bereaved parents, families and friends who have suffered the loss of their baby or babies to miscarriage, stillbirth and termination due to foetal abnormality. Located in South Australia, TLC provides counselling, a free call number, group support meetings, resources and more. This year they are hosting a Variety Show that includes comedy, singing and dancing acts. There will also be an open mike section as well as a three-course meal. At $25 per adult and $10 per child, the event will be held at Deaf Can Do Hall, 262 South Tce, Adelaide, on Saturday June 26 at 7pm.
