FORMAL FANCIES

It seems that almost every day I stumble onto a clothing collection that has me wishing I could turn back the hands of time and be a little girl again. Parents are spoiled for choice these days, and the hard part seems to be deciding what you don't want.

Take one look to the left and you'll see what I mean. This is one of the  glorious tutus dreamed up by the creators of Baby Cha-Cha Boutique, a collection simply exploding with colour and tulle.

In addition to tutus, Baby Cha-Cha Boutique do formal dresses, jumpsuits and completely over the top headbands, hats and beanies featuring larger than life flowers and bows.

Wow factor aside, Baby Cha-Cha Boutique also assures us that they are a responsible childrenswear manufacturer, using soft tulle and elastic waistbands to grow with your child.

So if show stopping is on your little one's agenda, Baby Cha-Cha Boutique is the place to start. Check it out online at www.babychacha.com.

 ALL ABOUT ART

Words Fiona Lang - www.kindergallery.com

As a mother, I take great delight in finding works that are created specifically for kids. Nursery decor pitched to the mother rather than to the children themselves can be sweet and lovely, but something feels lost when my enthusiasm for it isn’t shared by my boys.

Award winning Sydney artist Gav Barbey, has created a unique body of work that can be enjoyed by children and their parents. By pouring and splashing high gloss acrylic paint straight from the tube, Gav creates raised, tactile impressions inspired by the living world that flies, runs, crawls, slithers and swims around us, and machines that drive, fly and sail through our day. Each work is an original one off, making them very special collector’s items. Check out Gav’s collection at www.kindergallery.com.

Ok so I have accepted that I'll probably never afford it, but in case an unexpected windfall of money comes your way you might want to check out Lola & James, a recycled, eco-concious and incredibly trendy kids clothing line from New York Fashion graduate Paula Scholaro-Skikking.

Made from recycled fabric, pricey vintage concert tee's and oozing originality, it's no wonder Lola & James has been seen on the offspring of celebrity's such as Gwen Stefani, Angelina Jolie and Courtney Cox.

Very, very trendy stuff and perfect for the aspiring rock and roller. Have a look online at www.lolaandjames.com.

Love AJ creates whimsical artworks using vintage kimono and sari fabrics, papers imported from around the world, as well as a variety of other beautiful handpicked objects.

The latest range, 'Butterfly', is reminiscent of authentic vintage Butterfly Boxes with each butterfly individually hand-cut from Amber's collection of time worn fabrics and elegant papers. Our favourite is the vintage music scores.

AJ specializes in custom design pieces perfect for a special gift.  View at Magnolia Square or at www.loveaj.com.au.
