4 Activities to Play Outdoors
Balloon bop
Balloon bop is a fun party game and kids activity that will enthral your children with the wonder of balloons. If you need to keep your kids busy for hours on a rainy day this is a great indoor weather boredom buster.
What you need:
- balloons
- a willing adult to blow them up – or a pump
Activity:
Blow up a few balloons for each child and encourage them to throw them up in the air and keep them afloat. They will love the ease with which they can manoeuvre these weightless objects.
As they gain confidence (or for older children), tie a rope across 2 points and have them try to hit the balloon up and over.
BACKYARD BOWLING
Your kids will love getting in the backyard for a game of Backyard bowling. This is such an easy game to set up and even easier to play so get the kids outside and active today.
What you need:
- Empty boxes (like cereal boxes, drink cans and toys etc)
- Small ball
Activity:
Line up the boxes in a row at least two metres away like bowling pins.
Use the ball to try to knock the ‘pins’ down.
For every ‘pin’ the players knock down, they are awarded one point.
Play as many rounds as you want.
The player who knocks down the most ‘pins’ is the winner.
BUILD A SNAIL FARM
Get the kids outside and into the garden during the holidays and weekends with this fun kids activity. Building a snail farm is easy as you most likely already have everything you need sitting around the house. So get the kids ready for some slimy fun as you establish your farm today.
What you need:
- clear plastic bottle
- scissors
- clear tape
- soil
- lettuce or weeds
Activity:
Seal the bottle top onto the bottle.
Carefully cut a 10cm long and 5cm wide opening in the side of the plastic bottle.
Lie the bottle on its side with the opening at the top.
Place moistened soil and some lettuce or weeds inside the bottle.
Find some snails in your garden and place them in the bottle.
Tape over the opening with tape, but make sure to punch holes in the tape to allow for air.
Enjoy watching your snail farm for a few days before releasing your snails and replacing them with new ones.
