Do Fertility-Tracking Apps really work?
Written by Jana Angeles
It’s insane how technology surrounds us on a daily basis. From our smartphones, laptops to our methods of communication, it’s amazing how much we have progressed as a society. When you and your partner have discussed your readiness for pregnancy, it’s time to do the real work and start as soon as possible. When the age timer ticks, we feel the pressure from families, friends and ourselves for that matter to pop out the last kid before we reach the age where we can no longer have babies anymore.
Fertility apps are all the rage these days, with some mothers swearing by it and others being skeptical over its use. While it has proved beneficial for some out there, other people have had a different experience. We look further into fertility-tracking apps and see if they really work…
They are helpful but not accurate
Like the app that tracks how many steps we take on our smartphones, we must be careful when it comes to fertility-tracking apps since we can’t rely on its accuracy for information. We can also say the same when it comes to period tracking, where logging data for it can mean you’re either a few days late or early than expected.
Period tracking apps are helpful for mothers wanting to get a head start and determine an approximate time frame when it comes to when they are most fertile, but it’s not something we can entirely put our faith towards when it comes having a pregnancy straight away.
They are a good in providing guidance and putting you in the right direction for pregnancy
If you and your partner have been trying for a baby some time and there has been no promising results, following a fertility-tracking app can get you in the routine instead of having to pick a day of the week and hope for the best. The advantage of using these apps is they give you a rough time frame of when you’re most fertile, which can assist you and your partner to start again.
It can be frustrating if you don’t have a plan in the first place and you can’t rely on chance when it comes to trying for a baby. Fertility tracking apps certainly has its charm of making sure couples stay on track when it comes to the goal of having their first or next child!
You have to experiment to find a good one
Even though there are plenty of fertility apps to choose from, there is no one-size-fits all fertility app that will solve your problem in trying to have a baby. You and your partner have to be willing to use a variety of apps before you find one that you think provides a good understanding of your cycle. You don’t have to stick to one app just because your friend referred to one that worked for them.
Our bodies work differently from other people, just keep that in mind! If you’ve had experience using period tracking apps, you’ll find that most of your friends or family members use apps that are probably different from the ones you use because they seemed to work better for them.
Apps are just a method to consider
While fertility apps have their advantages, they are just a method to consider in assisting you and partner when it comes to trying for a baby. We understand that you may feel pressured because of time or your family members are “waiting” until you have your next child before you close up shop.
It’s important to keep your options open if the fertility apps end up not working for you and your partner. Do not feel like you have to exhaust every app available in the marketplace. If you know something isn’t working for you and your partner, move on to the next method!
Also, give your body time
Let’s face it, it can be super exhausting trying to have a baby. Although fertility-tracking apps feel promising, they aren’t going to fix how your body works, nor will it give you what you want straight away.
You need to know when to take care of your physical health and give yourself a break every now and then before you and your partner start trying again for another baby. Avoid feeling like you’ve failed because it will happen when you least expect it.
